The bill prohibits the use of any form of ranked-choice voting methods in elections for federal, state, county, or municipal offices in Kansas. It defines ranked-choice voting as a system where voters rank candidates in order of preference, and votes are tabulated in multiple rounds, eliminating the lowest vote-receiving candidate until a majority winner is determined.

Additionally, any existing ordinances, resolutions, or regulations that allow for ranked-choice voting and were adopted before July 1, 2025, will be rendered null and void. The act will take effect upon its publication in the Kansas register.
