This bill amends K.S.A. 2024 Supp. 79-2989 to extend the reimbursement for printing and postage costs incurred by county clerks through calendar year 2029. The previous provision that covered the years 2023 and 2024 has been deleted, and the new language specifies that reimbursements will now apply from 2025 to 2029. County clerks are required to notify the secretary of revenue of their costs, who will then certify the amounts and facilitate the transfer of funds from the state general fund to the taxpayer notification costs fund.
Additionally, the bill establishes the taxpayer notification costs fund, which will be administered by the secretary of revenue. Expenditures from this fund are designated for covering the printing and postage costs of county clerks, and all spending must comply with appropriations acts. The existing section of K.S.A. 2024 Supp. 79-2989 is repealed, and the act will take effect upon its publication in the Kansas register.
