1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION approving the creation of a port
2 authority in Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas.

4 WHEREAS, The State of Kansas encourages economic development
5 and cooperation to maintain and foster economic stability and continued
6 growth needed for a prosperous economy; and
7 WHEREAS, The economic prosperity and well-being of Wyandotte
8 County and Kansas City, Kansas, will be enhanced and improved by the
9 creation of a port authority; and
10 WHEREAS, The governing body of the unified government of
11 Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, believes that it is in the best
12 interests of the citizens and residents of Wyandotte County and Kansas
13 City, Kansas, that a port authority be created to preserve, enhance and
14 improve the economic prosperity of Wyandotte County and Kansas City,
15 Kansas; and
16 WHEREAS, The governing body of the unified government of
17 Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, proposes a resolution to
18 create a Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, Port Authority:
19 Now, therefore,
20 Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Kansas, the House of
21 Representatives concurring therein: That the legislature of the State of
22 Kansas, in accordance with the provisions of K.S.A. 12-3402, and
23 amendments thereto, hereby approves the creation of a port authority with
24 all the powers, duties, limitations and obligations provided for in article
25 34 of chapter 12 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated, and amendments
26 thereto, as the governing body of the unified government of Wyandotte
27 County and Kansas City, Kansas, may create by appropriate resolutions
28 or ordinances; and
29 Be it further resolved: That the Secretary of State shall send an
30 enrolled copy of this resolution to Senator Haley.
