SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for SB 463 by Senate Committee on Judiciary
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning SB 463 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
SB 463 would change the membership of the Judicial Council by removing the requirement
that it must include four resident lawyers. The bill would instead require one resident lawyer from
each congressional district. The bill specifies that the new membership requirements would not
affect the office of any member of the Judicial Council appointed prior to July 1, 2024. The bill
would allow appointments to be made as positions become vacant beginning July 1, 2024.
The Judicial Council indicates enactment of the bill would have no fiscal effect on the
Council’s operations.
