The Honorable Kellie Warren, Chairperson
Senate Committee on Judiciary
300 SW 10th Avenue, Room 346-S
Topeka, Kansas 66612
Dear Senator Warren:
SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for SB 444 by Senate Committee on Judiciary
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning SB 444 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
Under current law, the board of trustees of a county law library must consist of the district
court judges of the presiding county and at least two attorneys who must be elected for two-year
terms by a majority of the attorneys residing in the county. SB 444 would require the board of
trustees of a county law library to consist of the district court judges and at least two attorneys,
appointed by the chief judge of the judicial district, that reside in the county.
The Office of Judicial Administration and the Kansas Association of Counties indicate
enactment of the bill would not have a fiscal effect.

Sincerely,

Adam C. Proffitt
Director of the Budget
