SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for HB 2466 by House Committee on Taxation
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning HB 2466 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
HB 2466 would exempt registered agritourism properties from state and local building
codes.
The Kansas Fire Marshal and the Kansas Department of Agriculture indicate that
enactment of HB 2466 would not have a fiscal effect. According to the League of Kansas
Municipalities, enactment of HB 2466 could increase litigation costs for cities due to potential
lawsuits. The Kansas Association of Counties indicates that HB 2466 would have a fiscal effect
on county governments by decreasing county government fee revenue and possibly creating safety
hazards that counties would be liable for.
