SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for SB 279 by Senate Committee on Federal and State Affairs
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning SB 279 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
SB 279 would allow law enforcement access to the Kansas Prescription Drug Monitoring
Program (K-TRACS). The access would no longer require a warrant for investigations by law
enforcement and others. The bill would also replace the representative from the Kansas Bureau of
Investigation with a representative from the Attorney General’s Office on the Program Advisory
Committee.
The Office of the Attorney General and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation indicate that
SB 279 would not have a fiscal effect.
