Dear Senator Thompson:
SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for SB 268 by Senate Committee on Federal and State Affairs
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning SB 268 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
SB 268 would eliminate requirements that a chief inspector appointed by the State Fire
Marshal must have at least five years of experience in the construction, installation, repair,
operations, or inspection of boilers, steam generators, super-heaters, or pressure vessels and that
they hold certain endorsements issued by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel
Inspectors (NBBI). The bill would also eliminate requirements that a deputy inspector appointed
by the State Fire Marshal must have education, training, or work experience in the construction,
installation, repair, operation, or inspection of boilers or pressure vessels totaling two years and
hold an in-service commission issued by the NBBI.
The State Fire Marshal states enactment of the bill would have no fiscal effect on its
operations.
