SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for HB 2324 by House Committee on Local Government
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning HB 2324 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
HB 2324 would amend the Residential Landlord and Tenant Act to remove a requirement
for landlords to publish a notice once in a newspaper of general circulation in the county in which
a dwelling unit is located of the landlord’s intention to sell or dispose of a tenant’s abandoned or
surrendered possessions at least 15 days prior to the sale or disposition of the property. It would
also remove a requirement that the landlord mail a copy of the published notice to the tenant’s last
known address within seven days after publication. HB 2324 would require a landlord to mail a
notice to the tenant’s last known address at least eight days prior to the sale or other disposition of
the property.
The Kansas Association of Counties indicates the enactment of HB 2324 would have a
negligible fiscal effect on counties.
