1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing Virgil L.
2 Beckerman on the occasion his 100th birthday.
3 Whereas, On April 3, 2020, Virgil L. Beckerman of
4 Princeton, Indiana, will celebrate his 100th birthday;
5 Whereas, Born in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Virgil enlisted in the
6 U.S. Army Air Force in 1942, and served as an aircraft
7 instruments technician and mechanic for B-24 bomber planes
8 during World War II as part of the 10th Air Force, 7th
9 Bombardment Group, 9th Bomb Squad, Company 436;
10 Whereas, Virgil's military service earned him several
11 medals, including the Asiatic-Pacific Medal and the Good
12 Conduct Medal;
13 Whereas, Virgil returned from duty in 1945 and married his
14 wife, Wilma, on December 25, 1949;
15 Whereas, For almost 40 years, Virgil worked for the A&P
16 grocery store in Princeton as the head butcher;
17 Whereas, Virgil is the father of three children, Karen, Kay,
18 and Ken, grandfather to Erin, Jill, Scott, and Shannon, and has
19 numerous nieces and nephews; and
20 Whereas, Virgil's life and military service has been an
21 inspiration to his family and friends, and he is wished well on
22 this joyous occasion: Therefore,

1 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
2 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
3 concurring:
4 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
5 recognizes Virgil L. Beckerman on the occasion of his 100th
6 birthday.
7 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
8 to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Virgil L. Beckerman.
