Amends the Nuclear Safety Law of 2004. Provides that the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security has the right to enter on public and private property in order to take environmental samples in response to a disaster that causes radioactive contamination. Effective immediately.
Senate Committee Amendment No. 2: Replaces everything after the enacting clause with the provisions of the introduced bill with the following changes. Adds a definition of "incident". Provides that the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security has the right to enter on public and private property in order to take environmental samples in response to a disaster or incident that causes, or threatens to cause, radioactive contamination consistent with the regulatory requirements of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (rather than in response to a disaster that causes radioactive contamination).
