Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that for the purpose of providing the Secretary of State with records necessary to impose a revocation, upon filing with the clerk of court, the clerk shall forward in a manner and form prescribed by the Secretary (i) a copy of a Uniform Citation and Complaint where the officer indicated a crash type of fatal, (ii) a copy of information or an indictment in which a person is charged with a violation of the Code that resulted in the death of another person, or (iii) a copy of information or an indictment in which a person is charged with reckless homicide. Allows the Secretary to adopt rules to implement the provisions. Provides that the Act may be referred to as the Protz-Liddy Act. Effective January 1, 2027.
Senate Floor Amendment No. 2: Replaces everything after the enacting clause with the provisions of the engrossed bill, and makes the following changes. Amends the Juvenile Court Act of 1987. Allows the Secretary of State to inspect and copy juvenile court records relating to a minor who is the subject of a proceeding under the Act regarding petitions for delinquency alleging the minor was operating a motor vehicle which resulted in the death of another person. Provides that redacted information in a juvenile court file identifying the victim or alleged victim of any sex offense may be disclosed to the Secretary of State when necessary for the discharge of their official duties regarding petitions for delinquency alleging the minor was operating a motor vehicle which resulted in the death of another person. Effective January 1, 2027.
