Amends the Wildlife Code. In a provision concerning trapping, replaces references to "leghold" with "foothold". Provides that the diameter of traps shall be measured from the inside edges of the outer most portion of the jaws of the trap. Effective immediately.
Senate Committee Amendment No. 1: Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the provisions of the introduced bill with the following changes. Replaces references to leghold traps with references to foothold traps. Increases the maximum size of a foothold trap that can be used in water for beaver and otter from 7.5 inches to 8.5 inches. Provides that the diameter of traps shall be measured from the inside edges of the outer most portion of the jaws of the trap perpendicular to the hinges or frame at the widest point.
