Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987. In provisions concerning an exception to the prohibition on fee splitting for billing, administrative preparation, or collection services, requires any charges for multiple in-network services during the same appointment, including, but not limited to, an office visit that was added to a physical exam, to be disclosed to the patient during the appointment.
House Floor Amendment No. 1: Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Medical Patient Rights Act. Provides that every medical office, health care clinic, group practice, or other organizational structure for a licensed professional to provide health care services shall: (1) provide a notice stating that the patient may be billed for multiple services, including a separate office visit charge or billing for diagnostic testing or follow up, if acute complaints or chronic problems that require additional evaluation are discussed during a preventive or wellness visit and (2) make, except in an emergency treatment situation, a good faith effort to obtain written acknowledgment of receipt of the notice. Specifies that these requirements do not apply to health care providers.
