Amends the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) Article of the Illinois Pension Code. With regard to disability benefits, provides that a determination of disability may be made by a licensed and practicing medical professional with the authority to diagnose the condition or conditions for which disability benefits are sought (rather than only a physician). Defines "medical professional". Makes conforming changes. Effective immediately.
House Floor Amendment No. 2: Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the provisions of the introduced bill with the following changes. Changes references from "medical professional" to "health care professional". Provides that "health care professional" means a person currently licensed as a physician, advanced practice registered nurse, clinical psychologist, or physician assistant diagnosing the condition or conditions for which disability benefits are sought in accordance with the person's level of education, training, and licensure. Defines "advanced practice registered nurse", "clinical psychologist", "physician", and "physician assistant". Makes conforming changes.
