This bill amends Chapter 1, Title 60 of the Idaho Code by adding a new section, 60-106B, which allows certain governmental entities, such as counties, cities, and school district boards of trustees, to publish abbreviated public notices in newspapers instead of full notices. The abbreviated notices must include essential information such as the name of the entity, a title and description of the notice, the date, time, and location of any relevant meetings or actions, and a link or QR code to the full notice online. If these requirements are met, the abbreviated notice will have the same legal standing as a full public notice.

Additionally, the bill mandates that regardless of whether an abbreviated or full notice is published, the governmental entity must provide a copy of the full notice to the newspaper for electronic publication on the Newspaper Association of Idaho's public notices website. The bill declares an emergency, making it effective from September 1, 2026.
