This bill amends Section 34-1114 of the Idaho Code to update the provisions regarding the use of an affidavit in lieu of personal identification for voters. Under the revised law, if a voter cannot present the required personal identification, they may complete an affidavit that now requires the voter's name, address, and either their date of birth or their Idaho driver's license or identification card number. Additionally, election judges are mandated to verify the information provided in the affidavit against voter registration records before issuing a ballot.
The bill also establishes that any individual who knowingly submits false or inaccurate information on the affidavit will be guilty of a felony. An emergency clause is included, declaring that the act will take effect on July 1, 2026.
