This bill amends Section 57-1306 of the Idaho Code to update the provisions regarding the Renewable Energy Resources Fund and make technical corrections. It specifies that upon receiving funds from the federal government related to oil, gas, or mineral lands, the state treasurer will remit ten percent (10%) of those funds to the general fund of the counties from which the resources were extracted, while the remaining ninety percent (90%) will be deposited into the public school income fund. Additionally, it establishes a similar framework for funds received from renewable energy resources, ensuring that ten percent (10%) is allocated to the counties and the remaining ninety percent (90%) is deposited into the newly defined energy resources fund, which can also include other moneys as provided by legislative appropriation.

The bill further clarifies the definition of "renewable energy resources" to include geothermal, wind, solar, and other sustainable energy resources. It also states that any interest earned on the investment of idle moneys in the energy resources fund will be returned to the fund, and that the funds may be expended pursuant to appropriation for the duties of the office of energy and mineral resources. An emergency clause is included, making the act effective on July 1, 2026.
