This bill amends Section 18-6409 of the Idaho Code, which pertains to the offense of disturbing the peace. The revised provisions expand the definition of disturbing the peace to include maliciously and willfully disturbing the peace or quiet of any religious gathering, house of worship, neighborhood, family, or person through loud or unusual noise, tumultuous or offensive conduct, and by firing any gun or pistol. The previous language that included threats, quarreling, and the use of vulgar language in the presence of children has been removed.

Additionally, the bill specifies that disturbing the dignity or reverential nature of funerals, memorial services, funeral processions, burial ceremonies, or viewings of deceased persons is also considered a misdemeanor. The bill declares an emergency, stating that it will take effect on July 1, 2026.
