The moratorium will commence on July 1, 2025, and will apply to the following units: 19, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 52A, 53, 54, 55, 56, and 57. However, the commission retains the authority to allow hunting in these units if chronic wasting disease is detected.
The bill also includes a sunset provision, stating that the moratorium will be null and void after July 1, 2030. Additionally, it declares an emergency, making the act effective immediately on the specified start date of July 1, 2025.
