This bill amends Chapter 3, Title 36 of the Idaho Code by adding a new section, 36-308, which establishes a five-year moratorium on mule deer doe hunting in specific game management units due to concerns over reduced population, low survival rates, and decreased hunter success rates. The moratorium will commence on July 1, 2025, and will apply to the following units: 19, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 52A, 53, 54, 55, 56, and 57. However, the commission retains the authority to allow hunting in these units if chronic wasting disease is detected.

The bill also includes a sunset provision, stating that the moratorium will be null and void after July 1, 2030. Additionally, it declares an emergency, making the act effective immediately on the specified start date of July 1, 2025.
