This bill amends Chapter 48, Title 33 of the Idaho Code by adding a new section, 33-4806, which establishes an online Parent Tech Awareness Program through the State Department of Education. The program is designed to be available to all public and private schools serving students from kindergarten through grade 12. Each school district and public charter school is required to offer this program at no charge to the parents and legal guardians of their students. The program aims to enhance awareness of the potential dangers of internet-capable devices, online threats, and best practices for protecting children from exploitation on the internet and social media.

Additionally, the bill mandates that at the beginning of each school year or during the enrollment period for new students, schools must provide parents and guardians with information about the online program, including access details. Schools are also required to have parents or guardians sign a form acknowledging receipt of this information. The bill declares an emergency, making it effective on July 1, 2025.
