This bill amends Section 59-502 of the Idaho Code to revise the salaries of judges, specifically increasing the salary of justices of the supreme court from $169,508 to $215,000 per annum, effective July 1, 2025. Additionally, it establishes a salary structure for other judges, where judges of the court of appeals will earn $8,000 less than supreme court justices, district judges will earn $6,000 less than court of appeals judges, and magistrate judges will earn $8,000 less than district judges.
The bill also includes a provision that salaries will be paid on a regular basis, not less frequently than monthly, and stipulates that no justice or judge shall receive their salary unless they have taken an oath confirming that there are no pending matters in their hands that have been submitted for their consideration for at least 30 days prior to taking the oath. An emergency is declared, making the act effective immediately on July 1, 2025.
