This bill amends Chapter 16, Title 33 of the Idaho Code by adding a new section, 33-1637, which mandates the inclusion of human growth and development instruction in public schools for students in grades 5 through 12, starting in the 2025-2026 school year. The instruction must feature a high-definition ultrasound video that lasts at least three minutes, showcasing the development of vital organs during early fetal development, as well as a computer-generated animation illustrating the fertilization process and stages of human development in the uterus, highlighting key milestones in pregnancy.
Additionally, the bill stipulates that this human growth and development instruction must be integrated into any class that covers human biology, contraception, or sexually transmitted diseases and infections. The bill declares an emergency, making it effective from July 1, 2025.
