This bill amends Chapter 16, Title 33 of the Idaho Code by adding a new section, 33-1637, which mandates human growth and development instruction in public schools for students in grades 5 through 12, starting in the 2025-2026 school year. The instruction must include a high-definition ultrasound video demonstrating early fetal development and a computer-generated animation illustrating the process of fertilization and stages of human development in the uterus. Additionally, this instruction must be integrated into any classes that cover human biology, contraception, or sexually transmitted diseases and infections.
Furthermore, the bill empowers the attorney general to initiate civil actions to ensure compliance with these requirements. An emergency clause is included, making the act effective from July 1, 2025.
