The bill amends Section 54-2113 of the Idaho Code to expand the types of entities that can conduct veterinary medical practices. Previously, such practices were limited to sole proprietorships and professional entities, but the new language allows for the inclusion of any other entity as defined by part 1, chapter 21, title 30 of the Idaho Code. Additionally, the bill removes the restriction that no business corporation, other than a professional entity, can be organized for the practice of veterinary medicine or provide veterinary services.
Furthermore, the bill clarifies that not-for-profit corporations may own property related to veterinary medical facilities or animal shelters, as long as an actively licensed veterinarian is responsible for all decisions regarding patient diagnosis, care, and treatment. The bill declares an emergency, making it effective on July 1, 2025.
