This bill amends Section 66-906 of the Idaho Code to update the provisions regarding the succession of property for deceased residents of veterans homes. It establishes that upon the death of a member who has no heirs, all intangible property owned by the member will be transferred to the unclaimed property division within the office of the state treasurer within one year of the member's death. The bill also clarifies that any tangible property that remains unclaimed for thirty days after the member's death or discharge will be exempt from the revised unclaimed property act and will be assigned to the state veterans home.

Additionally, the bill removes previous language that allowed for the reclamation of property by any legatee or person entitled to inheritance within five years after the member's death, unless the member had directed in writing that the property be donated to the division of veterans services. The bill mandates that the application form for membership in a veterans home be revised to inform applicants of these new provisions and to include their consent to the terms. An emergency clause is included, making the act effective on July 1, 2025.
