This bill amends Section 66-906 of the Idaho Code, which pertains to the succession of property for deceased residents of veterans homes. The amendment establishes that upon the death of a member who has no heirs, all intangible property owned by the member will be transferred to the unclaimed property division within the office of the state treasurer within one year of the member's death. The previous provision allowing property to be reclaimed by any legatee or person entitled to inheritance within five years has been deleted. Instead, the bill stipulates that tangible property unclaimed within thirty days of death or discharge will be exempt from the unclaimed property act and assigned to the state veterans home.

Additionally, the bill requires that the application form for membership in a veterans home be revised to inform applicants of these new provisions and to include their consent to the terms. The bill declares an emergency, making it effective on July 1, 2025.
