STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS31750 / S1458
This is a fiscal year 2025 trailer appropriation bill for the Department of Lands and the Office of the Attorney
General. It addresses the fiscal impact of Senate Bill 1292, which statutorily removes the responsibility of the
Office of the Attorney General to provide legal representation to the Idaho Department of Lands and allows the
Department to hire or contract its own legal counsel.
FISCAL NOTE
This bill provides an increase in the appropriation for the Department of Lands, including $159,200 from the
General Fund and $477,800 from dedicated funds within the agency. Also included is a reduction to the Office
of the Attorney General, including $379,400 from the General Fund.
In total, the fiscal impact of this appropriation includes a reduction of $220,200 from the General Fund and an
increase of $477,800 for dedicated funds, for a net total increase of $257,600 across both agencies.
