STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS31462 / S1377
This proposal requires people who are paid to gather signatures for initiatives and referenda to verbally
inform potential signers of petitions for an initiative or referendum that he or she is paid to gather signatures.
Additionally, the petition employed by a paid signature gatherer must prominently state that the signature
gatherer is receiving payment in exchange for circulating the petition. Lastly, the paid petition gatherers must
wear a badge that clearly identifies them as a "Paid Petition Circulator."
FISCAL NOTE
There will be no fiscal impact because the cost of producing the forms and badges will be born by the petition
employers and gatherers.
