STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS30851 / H0390
The Attorney General has concurrent jurisdiction to investigate and, if necessary, prosecute elected county
officials for state crimes committed when acting in their official capacity. This legislation expands the Attorney
General's jurisdiction to include elected city officials. The purpose of this legislation is to take advantage of the
expertise the Attorney General's Office has developed for investigating and prosecuting cases involving public
corruption.
FISCAL NOTE
This legislation causes no additional expenditure of funds at the state or local government nor does it cause an
increase or decrease in revenue for the state of local government therefore the legislation has no fiscal impact.
