STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS30388 / H0245
The purpose of this bill is to increase the moneys distributed to the central cancer registry fund through revenues
received from the cigarette and tobacco product taxes. The funding to the central cancer registry fund that
subsequently supports the Cancer Data Registry of Idaho has remained unchanged since 2013 while costs
associated with the registry have increased.
FISCAL NOTE
Currently the amount of cigarette and tobacco product taxes distributed to the central cancer registry fund is
one hundred twenty thousand dollars ($120,000). This change would increase that distribution by two hundred
forty thousand dollars ($240,000) for a total annually of three hundred sixty thousand dollars ($360,000). There
is no impact to the general fund. There would be no increase in cigarette and tobacco product taxes, rather this
would be a redistribution according to the statute.
