This bill establishes a long-term care workforce solutions interim committee that will convene during the 2026 legislative interim. The committee's purpose is to review the adequacy and availability of long-term care services in Iowa, assess the necessary training and skills for an effective workforce, explore recruitment and retention strategies, evaluate current compensation rates for long-term care workers, and analyze turnover rates and their associated costs. The committee will consist of 16 voting members, including appointments from both the majority and minority leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives, as well as nonvoting members representing various stakeholders in the long-term care sector.

Additionally, the bill mandates that the interim committee submit a report of its findings and recommendations by January 11, 2027, to key legislative leaders and the legislative fiscal committee. Following this, the legislative fiscal committee is required to hold a meeting during the 2027 legislative interim to review the interim committee's report and determine how to implement its recommendations. A final report from the legislative fiscal committee is due to the general assembly by October 31, 2027.
