This bill amends Section 602.9110 of the Code 2026 regarding the payment of annuities by the judicial retirement system. Under current law, individuals entitled to receive an annuity cannot do so while serving as state officers or employees. The bill introduces a provision that allows retired judges to receive an annuity while serving as members of the general assembly, in addition to the existing allowance for senior judges.

The bill will take effect upon the convening of the Ninety-second General Assembly in January 2027. This change aims to provide retired judges with the opportunity to serve in the legislature while still receiving their retirement benefits.
