This bill mandates the submission of biannual reports to the Iowa General Assembly regarding major maintenance projects for state infrastructure. Specifically, the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is required to report on future major maintenance projects for state buildings and facilities, excluding those under the control of the state board of regents, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Natural Resources, and the Department of Public Defense. The reports must include project titles, priority categories (such as life, health, or safety risk, compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and efficiency), estimated immediacy, the controlling agency, and funding requests.
Additionally, the bill introduces similar reporting requirements for the Department of Management (DOM) concerning state information technology infrastructure and for the state board of regents regarding its buildings, facilities, and information technology infrastructure. These reports are to be submitted on or before January 1, 2027, and subsequently every July 1 and January 1 thereafter, ensuring that the General Assembly is informed of the maintenance needs and funding requirements for state infrastructure projects.
