The Iowa-Illinois Boundary Adjustment Act establishes a committee tasked with evaluating the potential adjustment of the boundary between Iowa and Illinois, specifically regarding the transfer of one or more Illinois counties to Iowa. The committee will consist of six members from Iowa, appointed by the governor, with a stipulation that no more than four can belong to the same political party, and five members from Illinois appointed according to Illinois law. The Iowa members will serve four-year terms, and the committee is required to meet at least once a year, with its first meeting scheduled no later than September 1, 2026.

Additionally, the committee is mandated to submit a report to both the Iowa and Illinois general assemblies within sixty days after completing its duties, which will include recommendations and any proposed legislation. The committee will not be subject to section 4A.5, and it will be dissolved on July 1 following the submission of its report. The governor will also designate an executive branch agency to provide administrative support to the committee.
