This bill mandates the Iowa Department of Workforce Development to implement a reemployment case management program as part of its administration of unemployment compensation benefits. The program is designed to provide individualized reemployment services to claimants who are no longer attached to work, with services commencing within two weeks of filing an initial claim for benefits. Additionally, the bill stipulates that individuals are considered to be earnestly and actively seeking work if they are participating in and compliant with this program.
Furthermore, the bill updates communication methods regarding unemployment benefits by replacing traditional mail references with electronic communication through the department's online portal or email. It allows the director to establish alternative methods for communication when individuals or employers cannot use electronic means. Lastly, the bill repeals the summer youth intern pilot program, with this repeal taking effect on June 30, 2026.
