This bill amends current law to expand the list of individuals who can request the redaction of their names from electronic documents displayed for public access by county assessors and county recorders. In addition to peace officers, civilian employees of law enforcement agencies, state and federal judicial officers, and state and federal prosecutors, the bill now includes United States senators, representatives to Congress, statewide elected officials, and members of the general assembly as eligible requestors for name redaction.

Furthermore, the bill mandates that by November 1, 2026, the Secretary of State must submit recommendations to the general assembly on how to protect the personal residence information of individuals seeking election while ensuring that candidates' residency requirements are verified. This provision aims to balance the privacy of candidates with the need for transparency in the electoral process.
