Additionally, the bill allows for some flexibility in fee payment; if a sex offender is unable to pay the fee at the time of registration, the sheriff has the discretion to grant time for payment, allow installment payments, or waive the fee altogether. The funds collected from these fees are designated to help cover the costs associated with the registration of sex offenders.
