This bill amends the Code of Iowa to streamline the process for releasing liens on snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, and water vessels. It introduces a new subsection in Sections 321G.32, 321I.34, and 462A.84, which allows proof of a lien release to be presented to the county recorder of any county. Upon receiving this proof, the county recorder is required to note the release on the certificate of title and enter the release into the statewide computer system.
Previously, the process required the lienholder to either send the title by mail to the county recorder or provide a notarized letter to notify the county of the cancellation of the security interest. The new provisions simplify this process, making it more efficient for individuals to have liens released and recorded, similar to existing procedures for motor vehicles.
