This bill amends Section 906.5 of the Iowa Code to address the recording and redistribution of board of parole interview proceedings. It mandates that the board must notify the department of corrections at least twenty days before conducting an interview, ensuring the individual is available at their institutional residence. Additionally, if health, safety, or security conditions necessitate a transfer to another facility before the interview, the department must inform the board.

A significant addition to the law is the prohibition of recording any electronically conducted interviews by any party, as well as the redistribution or posting of such recordings on the internet or through other mediums. Violating this prohibition is classified as a serious misdemeanor, which carries penalties of up to one year of confinement and fines ranging from $430 to $2,560.
