This bill amends the registration requirements for vehicles of excessive size and weight operating under a single-trip permit in Iowa. It allows such vehicles to be registered with the Department of Transportation (DOT) for the combined gross weight of the vehicle and load on a single-trip basis. The fee for this single-trip registration is set at four dollars per ton for any weight exceeding forty tons.

Additionally, the bill removes the existing prohibition that prevents the use of a trip permit issued under Code section 326.23 in lieu of the registration requirements for oversize or overweight vehicles.
