This bill amends existing laws regarding the conveyance of firearms in or on snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles in Iowa. It removes the current prohibitions that prevent individuals from operating or riding these vehicles with a loaded firearm unless they are on land that they own, possess, or rent. Additionally, it eliminates the exceptions that allow for the carrying of unloaded firearms in a carrying case, as well as the specific provisions for nonambulatory individuals. The bill also repeals a section of law that imposes fines for carrying firearms in vehicles under certain conditions.

Furthermore, the bill repeals the scheduled fines associated with the unlawful conveyance of firearms, which previously included a $35 fine for carrying an assembled, unloaded gun and a $70 fine for carrying a loaded gun. By striking these provisions, the bill significantly relaxes the regulations surrounding the transport of firearms in snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles, thereby allowing for greater freedom in carrying firearms while using these vehicles.
