This bill amends the current law regarding the effective date of drivers license revocation following an operating-while-intoxicated (OWI) violation or refusal to test. Specifically, it changes the effective date of revocation from ten days to twenty days after the Department of Transportation (DOT) has mailed notice of revocation to the individual. Additionally, if a peace officer serves immediate notice of revocation, they are required to issue a temporary license that is also valid for twenty days instead of the previous ten days.

The bill maintains the existing provisions that allow individuals to request a hearing or challenge the DOT director's decision regarding an OWI drivers license revocation within the original ten-day period. Overall, the changes aim to provide individuals with a longer timeframe before their license revocation takes effect, as well as an extended period for the temporary license issued after an OWI-related incident.
