This bill establishes new regulations regarding the prescribing, ordering, dispensing, and administering authority of pharmacists and practitioners in Iowa. It prohibits any board that licenses these professionals, as well as their employers, from imposing restrictions that would deter them from using their best professional judgment when it comes to medications or treatments, as long as these actions are within their legally defined scope of practice.

Additionally, the bill states that any such prohibitive restrictions by employers, regardless of whether they are documented in contracts or employee handbooks, are unenforceable and cannot be used as grounds for disciplinary action. Furthermore, pharmacists and practitioners who act in accordance with their professional judgment and legal scope of practice will not face disciplinary measures against their licenses.
