This bill amends Section 321E.29B of the Iowa Code to increase the maximum gross weight limit for vehicles operating under a fluid milk products annual permit from 96,000 pounds to 130,000 pounds. This change allows the Department of Transportation (DOT) to issue permits for vehicles transporting fluid milk products to or from milk plants, receiving stations, or transfer stations that exceed the previous weight limitation established in section 321.463. The bill maintains the existing axle weight limit of 20,000 pounds.

The applicability provisions of the bill state that it will take effect for fluid milk products annual permits issued on or after the effective date, as well as for permits issued prior to that date that remain in effect. The fee for obtaining a fluid milk products annual permit remains at $400. This legislative change aims to facilitate the transportation of fluid milk products while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
