This bill amends the state minimum hourly wage in Iowa, increasing it to $13.50 effective July 1, 2025. The current minimum wage of $7.25, which was set to take effect on January 1, 2008, will be replaced by this new rate. Additionally, the bill updates the reference dates for the federal Fair Labor Standards Act to July 1, 2025, ensuring that employers comply with the most current federal wage standards.

Furthermore, the bill removes a provision that allowed a lower minimum wage for employees who have been employed for less than 90 days. Under the new law, all employees, regardless of their duration of employment, will be entitled to the state minimum hourly wage of $13.50 or the current federal minimum wage, whichever is greater.
