This bill amends Section 321E.29B of the Iowa Code to increase the maximum gross weight limit for vehicles operating under a fluid milk products annual permit from 96,000 pounds to 130,000 pounds. This change allows the Department of Transportation (DOT) to issue permits for vehicles transporting fluid milk products to or from milk plants, receiving stations, or transfer stations that exceed the previous weight limitation, while still adhering to the existing axle weight limit of 20,000 pounds per axle as specified in Code section 321.463.

The bill also includes applicability provisions, stating that it will apply to fluid milk products annual permits issued on or after the effective date of the bill, as well as to permits issued prior to that date that remain in effect. The fee for obtaining a fluid milk products annual permit remains unchanged at $400.
