Additionally, it updates the requirements for the executive director or administrator to comply with training and certification directives from the commandant of the Iowa department of veterans affairs, including obtaining a personal identification verification card necessary for accessing the veterans benefits management system.

Furthermore, the bill stipulates that failure to maintain certification or complete required training will result in removal from office. It also allows for the commandant to extend the timeframe for obtaining the personal identification verification card under extenuating circumstances. Notably, the bill removes the requirement for the executive director or administrator to meet continuing education requirements set by the national association of county veterans service officers, instead mandating that training must be obtained only from entities approved by the commandant of the Iowa department of veterans affairs.
