This bill amends existing laws related to the Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa (Hawki) program and the autism support program. It introduces a new subsection that prohibits the Department of Health and Human Services from accepting new applications for the autism support program after June 30, 2025, and establishes a future repeal of the program on July 1, 2027. Additionally, it mandates the inclusion of applied behavior analysis services for the treatment of autism spectrum disorder as a covered benefit in qualified child health plans.

Furthermore, the bill appropriates $750,000 from the autism support fund to the Hawki program for the fiscal year 2025-2026, aimed at maintaining the program and ensuring compliance with federal regulations under Title XXI of the Social Security Act. This funding will support the provision of supplemental dental services and other necessary health services for children enrolled in the program.
