This bill amends Iowa's current law regarding county recorder fees by increasing the fee for filing or recording documents from $5 to a flat fee of $10 for each page or fraction of a page. It also eliminates the collection of additional fees that were previously designated for the county recorder's records management fund and the county recorder's electronic transaction fund. The bill removes the provisions that allowed for the collection of $1 for the records management fund and $1 for the electronic transaction fund, as well as the ability to charge an additional $10 for nonconforming documents.

Furthermore, the bill eliminates the county recorder's records management fund, which was previously used for preserving and maintaining public records, and the local government electronic transaction fund, which facilitated electronic recording and transactions. A transition provision is included, stating that any remaining funds in the county recorder's records management fund must be used for purposes outlined in Code section 331.602, while any unencumbered funds in the local government electronic transaction fund will be transferred to the treasurer of state for specific claims related to the county land record information system.
