This bill amends provisions related to shared operational functions and supplementary weighting for school districts in Iowa. It establishes that supplementary weighting will be available to school districts from the budget year beginning July 1, 2014, through the budget year beginning July 1, 2034, with a maximum eligibility of twenty-one additional pupils. Notably, the bill specifies that for budget years starting on or after July 1, 2024, the supplementary weighting assigned for shared operational functions involving college and career transition counselors or coordinators will not count toward this maximum.

Additionally, for budget years beginning on or after July 1, 2025, the supplementary weighting for shared operational functions related to master social workers, independent social workers, mental health professionals, or school resource officers will also be excluded from the maximum additional weighting limit. This change aims to enhance funding for school districts that share these critical operational functions, thereby increasing student opportunities and resources for educational programming.
