This bill amends the public notice requirements for meetings of governmental bodies in Iowa. It specifies that the act of giving notice must include advising news media that have requested such notifications, posting the notice in a prominent and conspicuous location designated annually by the governmental body, and posting the notice on any relevant internet site maintained by the governmental body. Additionally, if a tentative agenda is amended, it must be marked as "AMENDED," with the changes clearly identified, and a new notice must be provided.
Furthermore, the bill mandates that notice must also be given for canceled meetings, requiring at least twenty-four hours' notice prior to the meeting or, if that is not feasible, as much notice as possible. The bill clarifies that electronic meetings must adhere to the same notice requirements and extends these requirements to notices related to public appointments and whole grade sharing agreements.
